Why Physical Notebooks & Doodles Still Beat Digital Note Apps in 2026
Every year there is a new 'second brain' app with AI graph databases, bidirectional links, and markdown shortcuts.
Yet whenever I need to solve a complex architectural dilemma—like state synchronization in WebGL or managing multi-agent context limits—I always close the laptop, pull out an authentic grid notebook, and grab a pencil.
Why?
- Zero friction: No keyboard shortcuts, no app loading screens, no sync conflicts.
- Spatial freedom: You can draw an arrow that loops around a paragraph, cross out an idea with three furious strokes, and sketch a crooked state machine in 5 seconds.
- Physical memory: Your brain remembers the physical corner of the page where you scribbled that idea.
That's why I designed this portfolio as a lined notebook with a wooden pencil cursor and authentic paper texture. Sometimes the oldest tools are still the sharpest.
